The Browne Academy Parents Association (PA) is a “friend” raising organization tasked with building community and bringing together families to support the students and school. Every family at Browne is a member of the PA, which hosts a number of social gatherings each year and provides volunteer opportunities for members of our community.
Building the Bruin Community
In its commitment to Browne’s Core value of Community, the PA hosts several community events for Browne families and friends during the year. These fun gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families and get involved at Browne. Some examples include the Back to School BBQ, Fall Festival, Halloween Parent Social and Truck-or-Treat, Bingo Night, and Family and Friend Visit Day. In addition, at the grade level, our PA Community Builders organize events for families within each class with the goal of building community among families.
Active Community Members Through Volunteerism
Family involvement and volunteering is part of the fabric of Browne and through their engagement families enrich the experience of our students. Volunteering at Browne is designed to provide opportunities for involvement for all families, from being a guest reader in class to chairing an event, there is an option for everyone regardless of the time you can commit. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to teacher appreciation events, community gatherings, guest reader/presenter in class, field trip chaperones, Bruin Benefit, the Annual Fund, community service, and more. Volunteer Opportunities
As a Community Builder, your primary role is to serve as a goodwill ambassador to the parents in your grade. You also disseminate pertinent information from the school and the Browne Academy Parents Association (PA) to the parents/guardians of your child’s class and coordinate parent/guardian participation in certain grade-level activities.
Specific activities may include:
- Welcoming new families
- Coordination with the classroom teachers and any other parent volunteers for grade-level events/celebrations
- Managing the Class Activities Funds (to cover the expenses of class celebrations and extra enhancements such as special projects or additional field trips)
- Determining the Class Auction project
Teacher and Faculty Appreciation Events
Throughout the year, we work to identify various ways to bring our community together! Whether it’s educational programs for parents like the Parent Speaker Series or purely social gatherings like the Parent Mixers, we are looking for committee members to help plan events, identify topics, and brainstorm ways to engage the community.
Events include:
- Parent Speaker Series
- Parent Halloween Social
- Parent Mixer
- Family Fun Festival
- Volunteer Appreciation Event
- Summer Programming
