Social Studies

September 13, 2023

Social Studies plays a vital role in early childhood education, as formative experiences shape children’s attitudes toward themselves and their world. By integrating these principles into our curriculum, we prepare our students to be informed and compassionate members of society. At Browne Academy, our Lower School students engage in inquiry lessons that enhance critical thinking skills and encourage participation in democracy. Our core values of excellence, diversity, community, and character form the foundation of our social studies program. Teachers foster respectful classroom environments that promote diverse perspectives and viewpoints. Our inquiry-based and literacy-rich social studies program engages and inspires students to investigate their own stories and those of their community, state, and country. The inquiry process ignites students’ curiosity and encourages them to ask questions and develop solutions to real-world issues. Students begin with a compelling question, move through a rigorous investigation, and culminate with actionable steps. Social Studies at Browne Academy isn't about filling in blanks on a worksheet. We strive to cultivate students’ natural curiosity through reflection and critical thinking, helping them become confident, action-driven leaders of tomorrow.
